So our little William is already 2 months old and I just don't know where the time has gone! I also know it will just keep flying by...because I really can't believe that Triston will be 3 next month!!!
He is getting so big and Triston is just loving him more and more just like his mommy and daddy :) Not too much has been going on since we have been back home. We have really just been getting back into our daily schedules and such...It is the playoffs so there has been tons of football in the house. This past weekend during the Steelers game Triston took his terrible towel and was running around the living room yelling out "STEELERS STEELERS STEELERS..." over and over which was quite humorous!
We did enjoy the little bit of snow we received right after we got home and can't wait for some more little snow storms this winter, because Triston sure does enjoy getting out and playing in it!
This year I am reallllllyyyy trying to find wonderful new recipes for our family because I feel as if we get in a rut sometimes and make the same handful of dishes over and over...so I keep filling up the DVR with cooking shows haha but there is also time that I have to think about because I like to have dinner close to being done or even about to put on the table when Zack gets off work and before William this wasn't much of an issue, however now I have really had to become more time conscious when it comes to dinner recipes and the preparation and such that it takes to get dinner on the table. So I guess it's just a balancing act at the moment...but each day I feel gets better and better and our schedule as a family is really coming together so I am very thankful for that. Well that is really all there is for now...not but so much going on in the Riggs household as of now...just enjoying our little loving family.

our holidays...
I hope that I will be able to truly keep up with this with how busy my life truly is...
We just welcomed a brand new addition to our little family around Thanksgiving and I feel like we are finally getting settled as a family and have somewhat figured out schedules and all after the holidays. William Troy is a true little blessing. He had a hard time in the beginning when he first came out of the womb, but with time he and I were able to come home with him still on a little oxygen but healthy.
He is such a little gift to us and I feel we are truly complete as a family now. Here is our little man...
Our first son, Triston has been the best big brother I could dream for, he has wanted to be a "big helper" with everything around the house and everything having to do with William. He wants to help me with the dishes and cooking or putting the laundry into the dryer, even wanting to bring me diapers and wipes for little William. It is truly precious to see our first little man be so helpful around the house and so loving with his little brother. I couldn't be a happier momma! With the addition to the house we have tried to take all the extra time we can and get one on one time with Triston as well and I really think he likes that personal mommy/daddy time.
On another note we are all up in the air with our lives when it comes to my husband's life in the army at the moment. They keep changing his dates for school before joining the rest of his unit in Afghanistan, which is truly frustrating since we don't have a clue when things will be. At the same time I have felt very blessed to have him home to us every extra day we can get! Right now he is going through so much medical stuff from his last deployment that it is all just a waiting game for us.
We just got back from a trip to North Carolina to see family for Christmas. It was funny, we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for their Christmas lights the night before Christmas Eve because we didn't want to be there with all of the crowds the following night and we just had a blast it was truly a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone in the Springs....that zoo is BY FAR the best I have ever been to and we just love taking the kids there!
On our way home my husband looked over to me in the car and said Lauren do you really want to go home? Let's just load up the kids and presents(my parents' had sent like 5 boxes of presents to our house...not to mention all the presents we had to the kids and each other haha) and just drive home, we should make it there if we go now by Christmas Eve. If you know my husband and I we tend to make spontaneous trips. I really had to think about it and didn't think we could do it, but I said yes because I wanted to spend Christmas with my family so badly! So Zack loaded up the truck with everything while I packed our bags and the kids bags, as well as stuff for the car to entertain our almost 3 year old. Within no time we were off! We had a really good ride until we hit the snow storm that went across the US...we hit it somewhere in Kansas and rode with it the whole way until we finally out raced the storm in the mountains of NC. It was my first time driving in snow and BOY were we glad when we made it to my parents house! Now we had also decided to make it a surprise so only my sister knew we were coming and we showed up at my parents just in time for Santa Claus. My mom was so happy coming down the stairs to see us! The drive was worth that moment for sure! Then Zack had to set up our Christmas stuff and Santa stuff for Triston haha and we could finally relax!
There were presents everywhere!
Later that night we went and surprised Zack's parents as well. It was nice playing Santa haha.
I feel like the trip flew by too fast, but I am so thankful that we did it! Here are some pictures with my family...
After our trip we headed back home....and then what a treat we had running into some close friends of ours also on the road back home after the holidays and we just happened to be crossing paths in St. Louis! We love and miss you guys!!!
It was such a wonderful ending to a wonderful year!
Then on New Years Day we headed back out on the road towards Colorado...we did make a stop at Fort Leavenworth for Zack to visit where one of his close buddies is buried(and where we got William's name)...it was a rough day for Zack...but it also made this Army life we live feel even more real for me...
